Nhạc đồng quê là một thể loại nhạc phổ biến ở Mỹ và Canada. Nguốn gốc của nhạc đồng quê hiện nay là nhạc đân ca truyền thống của người da trắng, nhạc của người Celt, nhạc blues, nhạc phúc âm và nhiều nhạc cổ khác. Nó phát triển nhanh từ giai đoạn thập niên 1920[1].

Nhạc đồng quê đã sản sinh ra hai ca sĩ hát solo thành công. Elvis Presley, “The Hillbilly Cat” (Hillbilly là tên gọi trước của nhạc đồng quê) thường hay hát trong chương trình radio Louisiana Hayride[2], và ông đã tạo ra dòng nhạc rock 'n roll từ đây. Garth Brooks là một trong những nghệ sĩ nhạc đồng quê thành công nhất, trừ một giai đoạn ngắn ông hát một thể loại nhạc không đồng quê thập niên 90, ông đã hát thể loại này suốt sự nghiệp.
